Community Tasting Notes 10

December 21, 2012 - Very light Gruner. Not one of the better ones I have had. Very little nose, little to no complexity. Lots of acidity, perhaps more than just fruit.

November 16, 2012 - light yellow; exotic sweet spicy nose; dry taste with great balance; very enjoyable

September 6, 2012 - Served with asparagus with horseraddish sauce, and spicy tofu. Went well. Fresh, clean. I have consistently enjoyed this wine. Went well with split pea soup also.

December 11, 2011 - Very classic GV profile of green pea with a hint of melon. Light body, but not lacking in flavor. All in all, a very lovely "everyday" GV that is an excellent accompaniment to many different foods.

    November 3, 2011 - Basic, go-to Gruner. Getting a bit ho-hum, but nicely crafted.

(Hirsch Grüner Veltliner "veltliner #1") ($20.00) This wine is just way too good. Sensational aroma that almost mimics the riper fragrances of a Renner; oleander and vetiver; the palate is light, or light-ish, and creamy and very beautiful, elegant and serene, full of sweet grain and roasted corn, but it all swishes away with a feather-touch. Among the “everyday” GrüVes, this is the classiest.
