October 1, 2020 - Bouche dense et soyeuse avec un tannin au grain fin en contraste avec le nez réduit de la bouteille tout au long de la soirée. Grande bouteille.

March 16, 2019 - 13% alcohol. Good dense cork with hardly any wine penetration. Some deposit on the side of the bottle. Fairly dark colour with some evidence of thinning at the edge of the rim; cloudy too, at least the last quarter of the bottle on which I am basing this note.
The nose is relatively subdued but quite pleasant, with dark berries and some (not unpleasant) sweaty aromas. The mouth is much better, displaying classy fruit (wild berries), very good grip and fine acidity. No oak in evidence, except in a subliminal way. Went well with roast duck.
Much better than the Porrets StG of the same vintage and producer, but still somewhat short on Burgundy magic.
    Not a repeat purchase.

July 12, 2018 - First Gouges from the cellar. Remember reading how much time Gouges’ NSGs need and the critics are not incorrect. Still a lovely ruby red. Opened up wonderfully with deep fresh and austere smells of just ripe red fruits. Tremendous concentration of profound fruit and sweet chalky soil. The tannins are big, firm but really friendly. Considering the lunatic prices fetched by some relatively new Burgundian producers, Gouges’ wines are still comparatively good value. Serous, true and austere and perhaps not the sweetly oak flavoured efforts with immediate appeal.

February 23, 2018 - Served blind, came across very youthful guessed '08-12 vintage range. Slight VA on nose, and somewhat candied. Another surprising reveal, and I wouldn't touch these bottles for some years as it's evolving at a glacial pace.
