July 2, 2021 - PnP. Drinking beautifully without decant. But doesn’t have the stamina to hold in an open bottle for more than 45 minutes.

May 22, 2021 - Almost perfect. Dried fruits, cassis on the nose. On the palate : silky smooth, long and persistent. On top now - will probably deloverskrift at this level next 3 years before it starts to decline.

January 1, 2021 - The last bottle of this wine just two days ago was a positive surprise and encouraged me to try some more bottles from the remaining case I bought in 1993.

This bottle had a slightly worser filling level but was still in the neck.
The cork was good but broke by pulling as well.
The colour was a bit more brownish than the one of the last bottle.
The scent was more present and pretty earthy (mushrooms) right after pouring.

Annotation: I don´t decant very old bottles in order to avoid quick fading. I rather pour a glass, put a saucer as a lid on it and wait 1-2 hours. This is mostly sufficient for aeration and lifting up the whole bottle.

So after 2 hours of pouring a glass this bottle showed much more tertiary flavours, very few remaining fruit and lower acid and - of course - much lesser grip than the last one.
Nevertheless a very good wine with a classic flavour profile of a fully matured Medoc, with medium body and very good length.
    Drink up.

December 30, 2020 - Bought two cases for a ridiculous price in 1993 and this bottle survived 2 moves. It spend the last 17 years in one place and in total more than 25 years in my cellars.

Filling in the neck. The cork broke into pieces with the pulling...but pouring showed a translucent shiny purple colour with no brownish signs of oxydation.

Takes 2 hours of aeration to gain body and to balance the high acid.
Still very lively with vibrant fruit and lots of tertiary flavours. Old school BX at its best.
Of course this is just an excellent bottle which could have been stored for another decade. But I have 12-14 bottles left and I will try some more bottles soon. I´m sure there will be some disappointments among them.
    Drink now of course.

December 16, 2020 - Nine years since previous bottle, and the wine has developed nicely into a better wine now. Dark brick red. Dark and masculine Pauillac aromas with cigar box, lead pencil, leather and rusty iron. Also some aromas of the tannins that are still there in abundance. Quite velvety in the mouth, but there are also some rustique tannins, which explains its 5th cru classifications. Powerful and impressively young and alive, and should continue so for at least a decade.
