June 11, 2023 - Still youthful with crisp acidity and minerality

February 15, 2022 - Very polished mix of oak, lemon curd, and pear. This wine presents as compelling a case as could be made for overt oak in white wine.

October 29, 2021 - Mature and ripe apple and lemon, plenty of spice, lots of vibrant energy. Still very good. Just as good on Day 2.

July 27, 2021 - I have always found Rhys chardonnays, including this one, very oaky. Rhys’s website expresses a goal of low oak influence, but I figure that was a recent change of philosophy, because this wine cannot be seen as having low oak influence. I find the combination of strong oak and restrained fruit distinctive. While I don’t necessarily prefer the oak, I don’t hate it. Anyway, I digress. This wine tastes fresh and young, with great acidity, so it still seems eminently ageworthy.
