March 4, 2024 - Very high acid, taste of green ripe apples and some light flintstone.

    Delicate and much bubbles left.

A really good bottle from Comtes.

February 4, 2024 - F4. This wine continues to impress. Had the 1996 a couple of months ago and this was similarly dazzling. Such a nice balance of fruit and mineral. Still very fresh. Dinner at Guillaume’s.

January 6, 2024 - Fantastic bottle - corked exited with a real pop which is always encouraging for an older bottle.
The full in Comtes nose has just dialled itself down but is there - lovely enveloping rich soft pastry brioche vibe. Nice sharp energy on finish, you know it’s old but not “old”
It’s like George Clooney or Elizabeth Hurley still got it in later age. Aged well

December 7, 2023 - Holiday Dinner - Mostly Bordeaux (Taberna del Alabardero, Washington D.C.): Expressive nose displaying decadent yellow fruit, orange peel, clementine, a hint of baked apple, honey, brioche, oyster shell, coriander seed and mineral. There is a hint of dirty damp cellar which is distracting. Good concentration, nicely layered generous yellow fruit, ripe and rich, generous fine mousse, medium acidity and mineral, and a medium long ripe yellow fruit driven finish.

June 7, 2023 - Bottle drunk after a brut nature, the difference in dosage is obvious. I'm starting to know this Comtes 1995 well, but I hadn't come across it for years.

Intense nose of honey and hazelnut.

Buttered and brioche on the palate, with a creamy texture. Aromas of nuts largely dominate, 1995 seems to have moved towards the tertiary. The juice is dense, served by a nice tension. In the second curtain, the champagne is cooler, with aromas of pear. Great nutty finish with an intense length.

    great champagne

May 26, 2023 - Astonishing showing from, sadly, my last bottle from original case of 12. As near perfect as champagne (or wine in general for that matter) can get imho. Rich, elegant, balanced, precise, refreshing. Just perfect.

December 31, 2022 - Light yellow color. Lively, fine mousse. Complex aromas of yellow pears, brioche, hazelnuts and honeysuckle. Full-bodied fruit in the mouth with great depth and length. Creamy, complex and persistent on the palate. This extraordinary Champagne is at its peak at 27 years of age with no signs of slowing down.

September 30, 2022 - My last bottle. Opened with Ramon, Fe, Leslie, and Wendy. Wine truly does taste better with the right people. Easily the best showing of the 95 Comtes I've had. Just a beautiful textbook Champagne that's full of lovely brioche and concentrated yellow fruits. Perfect amount of softness on the palate combined with high acidity to make it exciting to drink.

    Wonderful stuff.
