December 19, 2016 - What Jobu said. And now, after it relaxed a bit, blackberry balsamic sweet/tart taste with a dry finish, dissolving into a dark chocolate aftertaste

August 1, 2015 - It really, really needs to breathe. Initially it was a bit harsh even through an aerator. After a bit the dark fruit came out and it settled down. It's a really nice wine. Has more of a Cab feel, full bodied and tannic. Very long, with oaky vanilan that lingers. Would've been perfect with steak.

January 21, 2015 - Pretty good, a little harsh around the edges but mellowed a little over time

January 4, 2014 - This wine shows black plums, dark berries, dust and earth with noticeable alcohol on the nose. The palate is less overwhelming than then nose and is more well balanced, showing dark fruit with hints of earthy vegetables and mild tannins.

August 25, 2013 - Popped and poured just above cellar temp. Nose was dusty with dark fruits emerging. Dark purple but good clarity in the glass.

First attack was dusty as the nose, but subsequent draws were fruity with hints of earth elements. Well integrated and the tannin was in check for a Merlot.

This is not a long term wine but it is drinking very well now.

February 12, 2013 - A blend of 96% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine would leave most tasters thinking that the numbers were reversed. It is a masculine, dense offering, with vibrant currant, earth, potpourri and black pepper aromas. The wine is full-bodied on the palate, with low-to-medium acidity, big ripe tannins, well-integrated alcohol (listed as 14.8%) and a paradoxically gripping yet refined texture. The flavors are wound around a core of cassis and spice, with more than a dollop of oak. The middle palate is sturdy and the lengthy finish is smooth. In contrast to another recently-tasted New World Merlot, this one will not be confused with Pomerol. It is well-made and has its own charms. Vive la différence! Drink now-12/20.

June 16, 2012 - Washington Wine Trip; 6/15/2012-6/19/2012: Tasting room pour. Red fruits on nose and palate, streak of too-noticeable vanilla down the middle.
