January 13, 2020 - Wonderful bottle of wine
December 24, 2016 - Christmas Eve Keplinger Horizontal
December 16, 2016 - There literally was no taste to this. I don't know how else to describe it. Wasn't turned by any means. Decanted for 3 hours but the Grenache was simply gone. No layering, no spice, no nothing. Very disappointing. Wasted dollars.
December 9, 2016 - disappointing... heat and thin
June 22, 2016 - Big, alcoholic nose. Purple fruit obscured by alcohol/heat on the palate, oak, vanilla and some sweetness. A big wine, without much structure whatsoever. This is not my style of winemaking and I found it difficult to appreciate.
June 20, 2016 - The Other 7% of California (Chicago, IL): A poster child for a modern monster: this is overoaked and plagued by sur maturité. Jammy, ripe, and just plain bad.
February 5, 2016 - I have grown to struggle with grenache more generally due to tendency for elevated alcohol/heat/extraction. This bottle is taken right to the edge but stops just short. A little bit short and lacking a bit of structure and acidity but pretty darn good. Really solid fruit and married with some additional complexity of secondary flavors on the palate. And pretty good size in the mouth. Enjoyable.
May 10, 2014 - Our first taste since 2009 in Napa. Amazing. Defines Grenache. Opaque ruby-garnet color. No rim variation. No sediment. No flaws. High fruit intensity. High, old world, earth intensity. Quite the organic nose. Agree with others that it has a nose of red and blue fruits. Dry. Low Acid. Low tannin. Medium alcohol. Long finish. This is a beauty. Very drinkable. Suspect it has a long bottle life left. We have one left which I think I'll cellar another 2-3 years.
March 10, 2014 - Medium bodied Cali Grenache. Spicy, with rich cherry compote notes. Nice underlying backbone of minerality and acidity. Nice wine, but a bit expensive for its category.
October 12, 2013 - Well made and exceptionally balanced, wild raspberry, strawberry, and blueberry notes, mix with a slight hint of roasted herbs
