June 27, 2020 - THank you Timmy! But not at all what I remembered - I remembered brilliantly light and flowery barolo. Here lots of dark depth, powerful tannins, and brooding. And ever changing. As one person commented "when my Barolos are every changing like this I think they still need some time." And maybe that is true?

August 16, 2019 - Grainy tannins, dark intense fruit, camphor, cherries. It just goes on for minutes. Tar and earthy elements, and liq
ourice. Crazy wine. Right now this is 95/100 with +2 potential after 2-3 years in the cellar.
On day 2, tar and liqourice, forest floor and other tertiary notes dominate, then dark fruit kicks in, covered in mouth watering tannings. A fresh wine to keep for many years to come, but also very good now. No signs of tiredness after 30 hours of oxygen.

    June 24, 2019 - Bartolo Mascarello Barolo 2007.
    Leken Barolo. 94p+

April 14, 2019 - Comparative Tasting of B. Mascarello Barolo and G. Mascarello Barolo Monprivato (Dig Wines, San Francisco): Deep color. Powerful, wild, alcoholic nose with vanillin and volatile esters. Round, ripe red fruit, some earth, and then very grainy, astringent wood tannins. Coarse and not clean. My least favorite wine today.

(Bartolo Mascarello Barolo, Barolo) Transparent brick red with pink highlights. In the nose, a touch of alcohol leads to aromas of fresh, bright redcurrant; wild strawberry; and sour cherry, with hints of dried flowers, worn leather, and asphalt. The pleasantly restrained palate offers dried cherry, cranberry, and even caramelized strawberry. Supple tannins emerge on the way to a pleasantly astringent, slightly bitter, and spicy finish. A graceful wine that is decidedly present yet understated and elegant. Postmodern Barolo: The War That Never Was
