July 18, 2022 - Some bricking at the edges. Pleasant, mature, ripe plum in the aroma.
Round and smooth up front, with mature fruit, soft tannins and balanced acidity. Mineral/graphite notes follow with hints of smoke and black pepper toward the finish. Much more enjoyable than the 1998 L'Oratoire which we found rather harsh and lacking in fruit. Definitely better with food. A nice accompaniment to mild cured sausage and olive tapenade. Might work well with smoky grilled beef with perhaps an old Bordeaux wine reduction.

November 8, 2021 - Still drinking well, but it is towards the back end of its drinking window and should be consumed in the nearer term. It is a very pleasant drink and easy to drink with no rough edges. This only needs popping and pouring.

February 12, 2020 - Good nose of herbs and leather. It has lost some fruit but still fairly dense with prominent acidity. Enjoyable - still drinking well - but not super interesting.

February 2, 2020 - Past full maturity, but not over the hill, the wine is more interesting on the floral, earthy, herbal, espresso and red berry nose, than on the medium-bodied, soft-textured, fresh, bright, herb tinged palate. There is still a lot to like here, but it is time to drink up, before the wine continues to fade and drop fruit.

January 15, 2020 - Darkish red in colour, leathery, spicy dark fruits dominate the nose with a hint of luxurious oak! Quite tannic on the palate, at this stage, it is a touch out of balance, rich and deep with a touch of sweetness! Quite old school, needs a bit of time for more complexity, however, I suspect the fruits aren't able to hold!
