July 1, 2023 - Reliably wonderful. Super, mature, pomerol in its prime. So many different flavours...

Great privilege to drink it at its peak, but will last for sure for a few years. Lovely.

January 28, 2023 - Classic pomerol, built on elegance and finesse. Mature berries, toast, coffee, cedar and violet in the nose. Medium bodied on the palate, complex, subtle and elegant, boasting deep, matured cassis and red berries, cedar, chocolate, leather, caramel, dried fruit, liquorice, with violet and freshness in the finish. Wonderful bottle that can easily go another 5 years.

October 20, 2022 - Tasted blind. This was a tired, over the hill bottle. Smelled like old socks at first, this dissipated after 40 minutes in the glass but on the other hand didn’t leave much there.

October 5, 2022 - The wine took some time to open up - hours. Once it did it showed beautifully. Drank over two days. Second day no better or worse than the first. Not as good as some of the other vintages of Gazin I've had, but still delicious. Black fruit, plum, leather, cigar. Really tasted of old Bordeaux.

August 27, 2022 - With AM. Really nice, gentle mature pomerol . Drink now or in a few years, but don't think there is anything more to expect from this one

May 15, 2022 - Another gorgeous 95 Gazin magnum with red fruit, perfume, earth, and herbs. Silky and smooth palate which fully opens up after an hour of air. Drinking beautifully at peak but it should stay at this level for another good 8-10 years easily in this format.

April 16, 2022 - Easter 2022 Dinner for Madelene, Ken and Moss (Wanaka Wedge House, Queensberry, Central Otago, New Zealand): Absolutely stunning wine tonight, and a fabulous march to the spiced and braised lamb dish. All the more impressive for being drunk next to a Dominus from an exceptional vintage. Classic Pomerol with plummy aspects, gorgeous oak handling, with grilled bread notes and pencil shavings. There is a leanness to the palate that really came alive with food, adding brilliant definition. As ever, the balance of this wine is exquisite. Better than the Dominus with food, and certainly at a similar level to it as a drink on its own. Fabulous wine and Im sorry to see it go!

September 27, 2021 - At Hawksmoor - quite plummy, rich, touch of soil, tobacco. Medium/full bodied, spicy, plummy, good length. Very enjoyable.
