Community Tasting Notes 5

December 24, 2016 - Menthol, red cherry and licorice on the nose. Very unusual wine. You can tell this was made with care, but it's hard to get over the strange taste. Dark red fruits (like black cherry), cola and mint....... Thank god for the other reviewers who said to decant. After about 6 hours, it mellowed, with more emphasis on the fruit.

December 2, 2013 - An interesting bottle but in the end disappointing. Very sweet/appley upfront. After some air time, balance starts to show but never got quite there. Would recommend decanting for an hour. Not bad though certainly not at a good QPR.

April 7, 2013 - This is from memory from a few nights ago...

Very odd wine. My first experience with Tenute Dettori. If you're not familiar, the wines are macerated in cement vats. They're never exposed to oak barrels. They also don't add yeast or enzymes. Obviously pretty unique production process. The wine is 100% Cannonau.

I found the wine to be very strange out of the bottle. A hint of carbonation. It wasn't corked, it was just strange. As it breathed it smoothed out and normalized a bit. However, I still found this wine to be odd. It was flavourful and quite full bodied, some sweetness.
