April 27, 2017 - A classic bouquet of red fruit, cassis and meaty cep-like soil tones blossoms with air, becoming quite expressive and projected after an hour. On the palate the wine is full-bodied and firm-framed, with largely melted tannins but a tight-knit core, juicy acidity and lovely savoury complexity. A very serious rendition of Aloxe-Corton village which will be even finer with another five years in bottle.

December 22, 2008 - What an intriguing nose, with notes of black cherry, rosehip tea, tree bark and raw beef amidst some well-integrated sweet oak. Gorgeously light on the palate with sweet cherry, licorice, rosehip and tea with just a whisper of oak. Still quite tight; this was just starting to unwind after three hours in a decanter. A lovely wine that still needs at least another year or two.
