April 17, 2024 - From a magnum, 30 minute decant. Classic Pride reserve cab embodying a textbook definition of mature mountain fruit. Red berries, chocolate, peanut butter cup, cigar box and a touch of cedar. Pride’s reserve wines are among the most under-valued wines in California and period.
April 8, 2024 - Very smooth. Fruity.
March 17, 2024 - In its prime drinking window. 2 hour decant; some sediment; excellent with grilled porterhouse
February 26, 2024 - 15.2% abv. 97% Cabernet Sauvignon 3% Petite Verdot. Concentrated fruit forward cab. Polished fruit. Juicy but nonetheless has a drying finish.
December 8, 2023 - Massive fruit forward wine that gushes with mountain fruit. Slight raisin and overripe persistent finish. Makes the salivary glands hurt upon the first sip.
September 30, 2023 - 2 hour decant. Most excellent with prime filets
March 11, 2023 - Tasted out of a Magnum that was perfectly stored. We went for a short decant. The wine was singing right out of the bottle, it seems to be in its perfect drinking window. I wish I had more bottles.
October 16, 2022 - Dark and deep colored with loads of dry currant, prune , leather, Latakia tobacco, vanilla and blackberry. Big on the palate both velvet and chewy, long lived in the finish and awesome. Drink now - 2027. Classic Cabernet !!!!
July 19, 2022 - At Boston Wine & Poker, Needham, July 17, 2022: (Tasted blind) We drank this next to the regular Pride Mountain cab from the same year. The regular bottling was softer, more advanced. The reserve is not exactly a bigger wine, as I might have expected, but it is differentiated by a healthy dose of structuring acidity, so it has a beautiful savory balance. Drinkable now, but I think it could get even better. Perhaps my favorite wine from a very impressive line-up.
March 12, 2022 - Deep dark color. No browning. Floral nose with dark fruit, slight prune and port notes which were not overpowering. Smooth sweet tannins with plenty left. Long finish. Excellent wine.
