    April 3, 2023 - Tasted over 2 hrs
-med dark red minimal clearing moderate sediment
-rich ripe dark berry wet rock
-med/med- acidity, med+ weight fading ripe earthy dark berry finishes with a little bit of heat and med/med- tannins
-a bit past its prime when the fruit was able to better buffer the heat

July 4, 2020 - A reserved meaty nose with plum jam notes. An outstanding, bold, relatively sweet blackberry fruit body and a long, robust finish with bracing heat made this wine a very pleasant experience. Lots of sediment, but not unusual for an unfiltered wine of this age. Not at all over the hill but drink soon...

-opaque dark red purple no bricking
    -tar soil faded berry violet
-med- acidity full-bodied mouth-filling thick tar earth faint black fruit, gritty med/med+ tannins and a bit of heat on finish
-big robust hearty and still has a few years of life left

May 25, 2015 - 5dan FAIL dinner: aiming at November! (Bisi-Basi, Yokohama): As solid as any Syrah from Rhône. Amazing wine!

    November 11, 2014 - What a fantastic Syrah!
I'd have gone with a high end Cali Shiraz any day of a blinded week.

Rich, enticing, clear aromas on the nose, still young but coming around.
In the mouth, there is a restrained, yet extracted, thoroughbreed here. No white pepper notes, but a pronounced Syrah aroma dominates the expression in a beautiful way. Gobs of dark fruit, M+ acids and superbly refined M+ tannins make up the palate. Still young, but early maturity.

Giving a slightly muddled impression as the wine still hasn't arrived at its end station. However, more than well capable of allowing a full dinner menu at Tani (Gaienmae, Tokyo) to shine.

    Wife: 91-92p
Two btls to go, next one in probably in 2016 as we don't expect this to stay on top for the long-term.
