March 22, 2024 - Corked
September 26, 2022 - This wine is now on its final home straight although it will be a long home run as there is plenty structure left. Need a 3 hour decant and just enjoy it over a 3 hour period.
Ruby red, it was very closed and chunky upon opening with minimal fruits. As the night progressed, it became much more integrated, developing elegance, depth and length. Certainly Merlot dominant in terms of profile but the cabernet franc did not play second fiddle. A worthy wine for those who enjoy aged Bordeaux.
Drink now to 8 years.
July 14, 2022 - Moreller, tobakk, plommer på nese. Langt tørrere i munnen. Litt tråe tanniner, ikke topp kons, men sødmefull deilig frukt. Svært lang og belansert. 92
July 1, 2022 - Perfect fill, cork a little elevated but only saturated about 1/3. This wine smelled a bit stewed on opening but really improved with air, then back to roasted in the decanter and finally into balance again. I’ve scarcely seen such an evolution with air
At the end of the day, this is a wine whose best days must be behind it, and yet, with enough oxygen, it remains a delight. Somewhere between stewed tomato and bitter chocolate, with brick red fruit and a little mint, these should be drunk without remorse
February 26, 2022 - Pretty much everything I dislike in winemaking especially given the price point. No sense of place. This could have been from anywhere. Super disappointing as this producer came highly recommended by some.
February 25, 2022 - Dinner at Bellyhappychef: Bought this based on some glowing reviews by others but everyone at the table agreed that this was a soulless and uninteresting wine. Mainly unintegrated oak, glossy and dull fruit.
October 25, 2020 - Superb - sweet spot complex long finish, well integrated tanins, nice fruits, dark fruits, bit of iron blood, forest floor
July 7, 2020 - Mature bdx, fully secondary with little fruit left. Cigar box and leather
as primary notes. Smooth and well rounded, pleasurable if a little simple. Relatively tight upon opening, ended up in the decanter which was likely a mistake as it faded quite quickly. Good but not great, potentially a little past its prime.
May 22, 2020 - Tasted blind. Lots of heat on the palate, would not have placed this into Bordeaux. The palate has ripe fruit but also an oxidative touch. drying tannins on the finish. Clearly a wine from the Parker era. Past peak.
January 25, 2020 - Drank out of a 3L, so it may have showed better for me than others with regular size bottles. It was fantastic. Nice fruit, smooth mouthfeel, excellent finish.
