December 28, 2022 - Felt was a bit too acidic and lacked fruit. Uncorked and drank - perhaps would have been better with a good decant.

July 3, 2022 - from magnum. PnP. Delightful, elegant and refined. Some sweet black cherries introduce a savory, complex palate with some spices and crushed rocks. l found this vibrant and nuanced, but others felt it was too light with restrained fruit. Definitely at a perfect drinking age!

April 3, 2021 - Light, translucent red in color. A pretty strawberry nose. Lush, sweet red fruit, strawberry, bit of warm spice. Picks up weight with air. Fully resolved tannins, bright acidity, great balance. Finishes long with sweet red fruits. Delicious and vibrant. No need to wait, but will probably drink well for 3 to 4 years.

January 22, 2021 - W chucker + mushroom sauce. Good combo. Was hesitating to open as my plan was always 15 yrs from vintage. Anyway i couldnt resist. Indeed this has life left but is really good right now. Excellent tart fruit with great length. Yummy!!!

December 5, 2020 - 1st of 2 bottles. Tart and sour red cherry fruit, with a definitive spiciness, wet gravel, licorice strands, sweet tarts, and dirt.
Really nice at an unbelievable 12.4% abv...the acidity is tense and bright. Long and tangy finish, red crunchy fruit all the way.
Gorgeously gritty tannins, just starting ease their grip. Lovely.
Just delicious, one of the best Copain Pinot's I have had the pleasure of drinking. Drink now through 2026+.

May 8, 2020 - One of my favourite California Pinots. Great maturity now. I don't know if I miss the more accentuated acidity when it was younger or not. Elegant and complex. Great wine

October 30, 2019 - Took a couple of hours for the fruit to shine above the structure, then drinks beautifully with sour cherry, soil, and spice with vibrant acidity on a moderate finish.

July 24, 2019 - Initially thought it was in an awkward stage but with an hour or so of air it really started to shine. Light ruby in the glass and looks like it could still be aged another decade. These hit a sweet spot for me between Burgundy and Most California fruity Pinot. It has some earthy funk, baking spice, and delicious red fruits. Still some of my favorite Cali Pinot!

July 19, 2019 - Drank over two days. I actually preferred day 1, as it was less lean. However, both days showed an acidic/tart core, along with thin palate (raspberry, sour cherry, steminess) that did not particularly appeal to me. I prefer more earthiness and less lithe, high-note, pinots. But, this is well-made (as Copain always are). I much prefer Wells' syrahs.
