December 6, 2013 - Grapemates Christmas Party (Atelier, Sydney): From an Imperial bottle. Leather and earth, a little Coonawarra mint, some briar, smokiness and cocoa. Resolved out on the palate, it's not deep but drinking and holding up very nicely out of this format.

October 20, 2012 - Pulled from my cellar after 30 years and the cork came out cleanly. At this age I decantered the wine and let it breath a little. It was light brown in colour and had an aged porty nose. Initially smooth on the palate but with a bite on the finish. Surprisingly tastable after 30 years. How do you rate a wine of this age? I didn't really like this wine when it was young which is why I suppose it has been left untouched. Most other wines of this era would have completely "gone" by now. An interesting wine to taste.
