March 1, 2024 - My fourth bottle, and at least according to my notes, my lease favorite. Tart red fruit, short finish, and no mid palate. Not sure if it the age, or just an off bottle. But, not what I have come to expect from the Black Cat.

November 24, 2023 - This got buried in the cellar for a few years and I found it when I moved to a new offsite storage facility. The extra age has served it well. The tannins are fully integrated, and it has an elegant, Bordeaux like quality. No need to wait any longer, but no great rush to drink either. I’ll probably drink my last two bottles over the next year.

August 17, 2021 - Similar notes to the bottle I had from 2014 - lots of red fruit and light on its feet, especially mouthfeel. Feminine cab? Seemed well balanced, if just a little short on the finish.

August 11, 2021 - Once again, this was a fabulous drink! Progressively more intense aromas of red cherries, licorice, spices, leather and violets make up the aromatic profile. In the mouth, there is medium to full body, loads of ripe red fruit, pipe tobacco and earth, all of which are underpinned by a solid acidic backbone. The finish is long and complex, with gentle grip and a late-arriving mineral zing. Undoubtedly, this will go strong for another decade plus, but is drinking very well at the moment. As good of a “regular” EMH Black Cat as I can recall tasting. 14.2% ABV on label. 95.

April 23, 2020 - Pen ink and strawberry on the nose. On the palate, black cherry, currant, and notes of cocoa and earthy spice on the medium to long finish, with light tannins and good acidity. This is more elegant than powerful. It was a good to very good value at about $70.

November 11, 2019 - Not much to add or change from my note 3 years ago, except that it's more resolved and drinking up to potential, so the score increased a point. Excellent!
