March 1, 2018 - Great wine. There was a tremendous amount of sediment in the decanter and glass. Still dark purple almost black in the middle. The nose was lighter than expected, faint. I tasted dark fruit and a lot of cherry flavor. Very tannic but food friendly. 5-6 second finish.

March 6, 2016 - A great wine! Opulent fruit, funky and Italian. Very dry with grippy tannins and high intensity.

March 1, 2016 - Clear, deep intensity, ruby color.

Developing, complex nose with a medium(+) bordering on pronounced intensity. Massive, wild and dark nose with aromas of blackberry, plum, raisin, worn leather, tobacco, grilled meat, bacon fat, animal, oak, espresso, , balsamico, dry soil and rusty nails. Some floral overtones of rose petal and violets adding a sense of freshness to it.

Full bodied, high tannins and medium(+) acidity. Medium(+) bordering on pronounced intensity. Very concentrated fruit balanced by that wild, savory, meaty, smoky and peppery elements. Long finish.

This wine shows the true greatness of Nero d'Avola. It's big, rustic and wild. Drinking great right now but has stuffing to last for another 5 years. Definitely worth seeking out!

March 2, 2015 - Dark purple color, almost opaque. Light nose of dark fruits, floral. Light flavors of red fruits, floral, slight earth, herbs. Viscous. Grippy, dry tannins.
