May 17, 2019 - cloudy red color. red fruit, but some blackberries, spice, vegetation and some cedar. a little chewy and dusty. maybe a little hard on the rating because drunk with a 01 vogue musigny which was pristine.

March 29, 2019 - Lost Friday afternoon gathering – Chave, Krug, Churchill, Trimbach, Mugnier and etc. (Black Salt, Washington DC): Expressive youthful nose displaying intense ripe black fruit with a hint of red, blackberry, black cherry, strawberry and rhubarb tart, stewed tomato, cedar, dark spices, cola and strong earthy mineral. Excellent concentration, layers upon layers of slightly stewed ripe black and red fruit, dense and chewy, bright acidity, strong earthy mineral and a long ripe black fruit driven finish with cedar and dark spices at the end. This is a big scale, slightly masculine wine. This can easily improve for another two decades or more.

January 9, 2019 - NDG: 9/1/19 dinner with Magnums of 9 to celebrate the start of 2019 (Imperial Treasure Teochew, Ion): Wow - this was a really good Lambrays. I loved the nose, with its wafts of spice and earth, herb and floral stalks, all drifting around a core of blueberry fruit. The palate has a lovely open feel to it, with fresh acidity and fine, almost silky tannins framing delicious flavours of blueberries and black cherries, and then a full midpalate lined with seams of earth and spice. It was soft, rich and yummy, yet impeccably balanced and nicely focused, all the way into a nicely long finish. Lots of Grand Cru depth here, which is not always something one can say about a Clos des Lambrays, yet it was also pure and transparent, with a effortless grace to it. A Clos des Lambrays par excellence then, without any hint of rusticity at all. From a magnum, it was absolutely lovely and drinking well now.

December 31, 2018 - The texture and length are really what stand out here and make the wine quite impressive. Lots of spice on nose and palate mixed with some darker fruits. The tannins were still firm and I found the acidity a tad light, but really that was a small detail in what was overall a very enjoyable experience.

Drank well after a 2h decant but not at its peak quite yet. I think 3-5 years this will be at its best.

December 8, 2018 - Outstanding - why we drink Burgundy. Gorgeous perfume of spice, stems, earth, pink peppercorns. Dark core, with bricking edge. On palate, dusty tannins, cassis, dark cherry, a whiff of smoke, pepper, good structure. Gained length as it sat. Still not at peak, but immense pleasure now. Last bottle of three and wish I had held. A wow wine for us tonight.

Burgundy-Report

(Lambrays Clos des Lambrays) The aromatics are high-toned with faint notes of cedar. The palate has a little width though the flavours are attenuated. Tainted or tight - ? - either way a poor bottle.
