March 13, 2014 - Seattle Wine Group - Mar 2014 Tasting - Theme: Syrah "4X" (Amaroso Room - Wine Storage Bellevue): Bottle "C"
Tasted single blind. Pop 'n Poured.

Light in color, garnet hue, 1/8" to the meniscus. Very floral nose with lots of red fruit, vanilla, and cherry. Lots of cherry and red fruit on the palate, with some herbs and minerals to brace them. Soft attack but good mid-palate build, lively long complex finish. Body is smooth and silky, tannins are well integrated. Medium + acidity, light-medium bodied.

Final thoughts: This nose could only be the Viognier in the Cote Rotie. We all pegged this one. This wine was enjoyed by all and a nearly virtual tie for first place. This wine has the acid to age a long time, would love to see how it develops in 10-20 years. My WOTN.

My Ranking: 1st out of 8 wines
Group Ranking: 2nd out of 8 wines (virtual tie for first)
Top-Tier (26 total points out of 88 possible points)
