February 4, 2024 - Aromas of plums, brambles, liquorice, saline, slight alcohol prickle, milk chocolate. Juicy without being particularly fresh, woody tannins are contained but it's all quite muted and a little flat.

April 21, 2023 - I had no expectations. Decanted for 2 hours. Amazing. Had with vegetarian “beef” style dish. Excellent pairing. Amazing tannins. Exceptionally long finish. Had started with a 2013 riser a chianti that would have terrible if the other way around.

January 7, 2023 - Coravin fun - Random Bordeaux (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Hmm, there is a slightly off note here; almost like a dirty/dusty/slight cabbage note that permeates the nose obstructing polished oak and black fruits backed by sweet spice, a little cream, the dirty notes (fortunately) blows off. Dense, plummy fruit fills the mouth backed by rather impressive drying, oaky, finely textured tannins and a smidge of alcohol warmth. Bit monolithic in the mouth. Time?

November 28, 2021 - Flavour is quite vibrant. Bouquet of strawberries and some earth. Plum, licorice and leather come through. Tannins are still noticeable and this could sit still for a few more years. Finish is fairly clean/abrupt. Did not decant and will see how it changes after opening.

March 27, 2021 - Double decanted 4 hours, deep ruby, cassis, red licorice, toasty oak, vanilla, mocha, and truffle notes followed by a full body perfectly balanced and extremely long finish wine. Very well made, rich and thick. Another gem from Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux glued to Saint-Emilion. Another database correction is needed here as drinking this by the cellar tracker recommended 2021 date is committing infanticide. This will hold 15 years easily. An incredible achievement by Gerard Perse and the bargain of his portfolio.
