March 18, 2017 - Nose of stewed lemon, pineapple, pear blossoms, and petrol/rubber hose. This still has a fair amount of acidic zip in the mouth. The fruit flavors have rounded with age, citrus, spice, apricot pit. Finish is long. Pretty interesting stuff.
Saved a few of these based on how well aged Eyrie Pinot gris has shown over the past decade. Who says Pinot gris (from the right source, in the right hands) can't age? -

March 25, 2012 - My favorite of the last four Eyrie Pinot gris vintages (2006-2009). Nice with our grilled turkey burgers. Upon release, this wine was delicious with zippy acidity. Over the last year and a half the acidity has evolved and given a feeling of weightiness, even some creaminess. Contrary to others' notes, this wine see NO OAK. Fermented and aged in stainless, though the full malolactic fermentation lends roundness and creaminess to the wine. Fruit is still there, on the nose and the palate.

Tasting Interesting Itialian White Grapes in California, Episode #835, 3/19/2010 (link) 90+ points(Eyrie Pinot Gris) #1 (tie); COLOR-medium golden; NOSE-some nice apple; a little burnt tire; heavy petrol action (almost Riesling-like); a little cave action and a little burnt ash action as well; PALATE-great acidity; WOW; I love the acid; a little ginger and apple sauce mixed with seltzer water (acidity); great length; great finish; this brings the thunder; great apple flavors; great acidity; mouthfeel for days; not a wimpy wine -- almost a red wine lovers white; this is an out and out steal; WS-90; GV-90+

January 31, 2010 (link)(Eyrie Vineyards Pinot Gris, Willamette Valley) Clear and silvery, with a faint tinge of pink. Exotic notes of Honeycrisp apple, clementine, orange-flower water, spring honey, and mineral emerge on the nose. Pleasantly textural on the palate, the wine finishes with clean acidity and moderate length. A balanced New World Pinot Gris, with a little more than 13% alcohol, from America's first producer of this varietal. Hot Picks
