December 24, 2023 - Decanted 4 hours, deep purple. Tasted after two hours, ready to drink. Fast ball Bordeaux, cherry, red fruit, leather, full on the pallet. The merlot really shines as this is less than 50% cab sav. Will get better and better… Drinking Bordeaux for a steak if that’s your style.

October 25, 2023 - Plenty of freshness and vigor here with ripe black fruits and an opulent texture. Plummy and rich with a nice smoky edge and good depth of flavor. The finish is layered but can't match the precision and complexity of the Grand Vin. It contains much more Cabernet Sauvignon than the Grand Vin which is interesting...

November 30, 2022 - Clear medium ruby; clean medium nose of cassis and green pepper; dry; medium plus acidity; high tannins; medium plus alcohol; medium plus body; medium plus flavour intensity; palate is tarter with addition of dark cocoa; medium plus finish; big and bold with opportunity for tannins to integrate; tasted at Haut Brion LCBO dinner

August 7, 2022 - My first 2010 La Chapelle! A good bit of typicity coming through here with some smoke, fresh bay leaf savoriness, saturated black fruits and cherry-laden, piquant acidity that keeps this fresh! Aromatically this was pretty incredible! Much more interesting on the nose than the palate at this point. Though very well-made and with a very high quality of tannin, this still felt like a baby! Also worth noting this comes across a bit more ‘modern’ in style than say the 2000 La Chapelle I had recently which was much more rustic and lean in its fruit presence. This will certainly be much more full at age 22 than the ‘00 La Chapelle! I think the fact this is really well put together and has a good bit of stuffing means as it adds secondary development, it will be REALLY good. This should continue to develop well and drink great for another 8-12 years! I will try again in 5 years. Also worth noting - this was an ex-Chateau bottle!
