October 30, 2018 - Dark purple. Strong nose of blackfruits and cassis, and nice attack. In the palate, good balance of sweet and acidic, full of black currant and plum, hint of tobacco, medium to strong but smooth tannins. Long long finish. One bottle without decant at all and the second bottle decant for an hour, unbelievable on the ready to drink on the first bottle, both amazing and enjoyable.

October 27, 2018 - Small pour. Wow. It was a modern bordeaux but it was so silky and elegant with lots of ripe black fruit with tremendous balance. Weightless intensity. Very nice.

September 16, 2016 - 66x Parker 100-Pointers from Bordeaux 1947-2010 tasted blind (Switzerland): Tasted blind. Expressive nose of cocoa, toast, dark fruit, pine, chocolate. Sweet and soft on the palate. Of all these fantastic wines served in the last two flights this one is the most concentrated and Californian. Over the top for me, so I had to make some deductions. Given my excellent experience with the 2000 vintage of this wine, let's see how this wine does in ten years. 94 points for now. Group score: 18.41, group rank: 22/64

(Château Pape Clément) Opaque red violet color; fresh, tart black currant, loam nose; tasty, rich, tart black currant, loam palate; medium-plus finish (62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc)

(Chateau Pape-Clément (Pessac-Léognan)) Cabernet Sauvignon 50%, Merlot 50%. A glossy crimson-black hue here. No surprises on the nose, the evident fruit even at this stage already more than matched by a wild, feral, organic character with a dried-wood twist. Rather boldly composed on the palate, which speaks more of structure and woody tannin than it does fruit, which does its best to catch up in the midpalate although never really manages. Rather dry and rasping in terms of its composition, the tannins feeling heavily extracted. Did they cut back on the extraction here?
