April 27, 2024 - At its peak, classic Pauillac, power plus finesse, very good finish.

April 19, 2024 - Tried alongside the (sadly corked) 2009. Lovely clean claret flavours of tobacco, earth, cedar, mulberry with slightly prominent acidity.

February 9, 2024 - Auge: Klares, mittleres rubinrot

Nase: Sauber. Mittlere Aromen von Pflaume, Heidelbeere, Vanille, Lakritze, Zedernholz, Schokolade. Erste Reifenoten.

December 28, 2023 - Served too warm. Underlying wine was decent but distorted.

December 27, 2023 - Great classic claret. Red fruit, leather and cigarbox. Very pleasurable. Top drinking window.

December 20, 2023 - My first time with this wine.
Bought EP as part of a mixed case stored until this year.
    Opened and decanted
Left for an hour before the first taste.
Drinking nicely from the get-go but lacks complexity & rather one dimensional.
Deep ruby red/ purple, muted on the nose but floral notes, autumn fruits and spice.
On the palate rich berries, I'm sure I got blueberries, with super smooth tannins. Lacking in mid-palate nuance.
For my taste and if sharing, decant for 2-3 hours.
Nice but today this retails at ~£80. I'd be disappointed if I bought it today for that price.

December 10, 2023 - Nose is worryingly restrained and takes a long time to uncurl, but even when it does is very quiet. Thankfully there is a lot of action in the palate, with typical Batailley roasted hazelnut, juniper, graphite, cedar and plenty of darkly sophisticated blackberry, well balanced between classicism and complex fruity punch. A very long flavourful and dry finish, indicating this will probably be ok to leave for a while, though delicious now (with a 6hr decant).

December 5, 2023 - Nothing wrong with this and it will age well but it lacks complexity for a Pauillac, hence the low price

November 24, 2023 - Purple hue, soft aroma. Subtle first taste of leather, earth, light tannins finishing into a slightly sweet, spicy finish. Medium linger and not too dry and lack of earthy finish. A bit disappointing for a 13 yr Bordeaux, was expecting more.

November 12, 2023 - Scallops and Steak with friends (At home in leafy West London): Compared to its flightmate, a bit more substantial, a bit more polished, and not quite as ready. Thoroughly enjoyable Batailley - i think if i had a few I'd consider opening one over the festive period, but this has a long life ahead of it.
