April 15, 2021 - 4th bottle from a case. Big violet and blackcurrant nose. Lots of soft fruit on the palate yet a certain St Estephe leanness and tannic backbone. Very long flavoured finish. Drinking beautifully now this has a few years to go before its peak and a decade or more of good drinking after that. Was offered en primeur at £350 a case and then fell in price for a few years. I bought in 2014 at £300 because the Southwold tasting rated it 3rd in St. Estephe after Cos and Montrose. Now still good value at £390 a case which equates to £42 a bottle.

February 1, 2021 - This is a bit hard to rate as it felt 'off'. There was a murky, green vegatal note on the nose, and same on the palate. Was still attractive in some respects, but marred by this strange vegetal tone. An off bottle.

January 18, 2021 - Coravin fun - Lafon Rochet (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Young, fresh, crunchy blackcurrant tends to cassis, a little chalky minerality, sweet spice, a touch of mint here as well. medium plus intensity acidity, hard woody tannins are chalky textured and, well, unforgiving, fruit does persist beneath this. Times and plenty of it for me.

September 24, 2020 - Good without being excellent. Nice bouquet with blackcurrant, pencil shavings, blackberry and spices like black pepper and cardamon.
Good acidity as is custom in St Estephe but an appealing creaminess in the mid-palate. It is opening up, almost ready I would say.

August 23, 2020 - Thick, black, brooding fruit. Some asphalt and lead. This is always powerful and it's not obvious it's from the '10 vintage as the acidity is not so pronounced. The '09 is likely more well rounded whereas this is just so massive. Will benefit from more time but still a weighty and impressive wine at this stage.
