November 15, 2021 - Delightful fully expressing burgundy. Dark fruit in the mouth, perfumed red fruit in the nose. Makes for full flavor that fills the mouth. Touch of barnyard. Hope I can find more.
January 2, 2013 - This was a black-fruited powerful Burgundy. Too young yet by a long shot. Definitely in a more modern style, and from a vintage that often shows as forward...these combine to produce a Burg that is not my favorite (I tend to like more refinement). But bearing in mind this is a Gevrey 1er, there ought to be some masculine, rough-and-tumble about the wine - this one delivers some of that. We tamed this beast with some food - 2 yr old Dutch Beemster proved a good foil. I think this is a very good Burg (in a certain style), but not outstanding. Good price point though (about $50).
November 21, 2011 - Smells of barnyard, dark red fruits, earth, & cold mushrooms. Tastes of bright red fruits with a hint of bitterness. Not as much game or earth to balance the fruit as I like, but very nice. Medium bodied. Best after 20 minutes (not decanted).
September 29, 2011 - Smells of red fruits, alcohol, & dirt at the open. 30 minutes later, mushrooms, earth, reserved red fruits, & alcohol. Tastes of red berries (raspberries), somewhat light, tannins in the back of the throat, and nice acidity. With time it seemed to get slightly sweeter, showing more fruit.
August 2, 2011 - Smells of cherries, red currants, fennel, & slight cranberry. Tastes of red fruits with nice acid and had slight tannins on the back of the throat. It also showed just enough earth to balance the fruit.
May 5, 2011 - Part of a 5 wine blind Bordeaux/Burgundy cellar tasting. Decanted for 1.5 hours. Varying reviews by the group (1st - 3rd, but the majority favorite). Earthy red fruits on the nose. Tasted of light red fruits & stone. Had a nice long finish.
