August 10, 2018 - Magnificent nose after decanting; depth, complexity, promises of all sorts of merlot heavy St. Emilion goodness. Currants, red cherry, blackberry, bramble fruits, leather, cedar. Floral, fruit, herbs, earth, so much on the nose and then the palate was just "good." Tannins were well integrated, acidity was spot on, and balanced with the fruit, but the promised complexity of the nose was missing. Will cellar well for another decade or two but I have to hope that the flavors fall in line with the nose.

October 17, 2014 - Excellent Pomerol. Tasted as part of a 4 bottle vertical 2008-2011 by Bear Dalton from Houston Specs.
Deep red opaque color, strong film on glass with swirl, modest fruit nose, superb deep fruit taste, oak in background. A classic right bank Bordeaux. 95% Merlot. This is a sipping wine, better than a food accompaniment. Price $66

May 16, 2011 - Rated 95-A brilliant effort from proprietaire Jean-Phillipe Janoueix, this blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc possesses an inky color as well as a gorgeous perfume of melted chocolat, blackberries, black cherries, licorice, new saddle leather, lead pencil shavings, and a touch of new oak. While dense, powerful, full-bodied and built for the long haul, the tannins are sweet, and the acids give the wine precision. This long, deep, impressive 2008 should be approachable in 2-3 years, and last for two decades.-Robert Parker
