November 27, 2022 - Opened tonight to accompany rabbit in mustard sauce. Still highly acidic but now with fleshed out fruit. Dark cherry fruit with savory elements emerging. Still somewhat youthful, but I have my doubts whether the fruit will last before the structure softens. This is a wine for service with boldly flavored food.

March 12, 2018 - fantastic masculine volnay drinking in its prime

July 24, 2015 - Pretty nose of dark bright fruit, spice, and underbrush. Somewhat 2ndary aromas. Aroma better than palate. Strong raspberry. Decent midpalate but lean/unbalanced backend.

June 5, 2014 - Upon opening, a nose of tart raspberry, pencil lead and dark cherry. With a hard decant, more earthy notes emerge. Tannins are fully resolved, but the acidity remains high. There's quite a depth of fruit here, but it's definitely a wine to drink with food. After 16 years, it still seems quite youthful.

January 16, 2012 - Must've been a root day.: There's some lovely scents of cool dark fruit and mint off the bat, but I agree with dzop that the wine is so full of bitter, drying tannin that it's distinctly unpleasant to drink. I'd say put it away for several years but I'm not sure the tannins will ever resolve, or if there will be anything left when they do.
