October 18, 2015 - Beautiful vibrant color. Nose dominated by spicy, anise, slightly musty oak. Fresher fruit on the palate but the oak returns on the finish.

July 2, 2015 - Decanted, throwing off a ton of sediment, and in the decanter, the last splash out of the bottle came with a viscous electric purple wash that stuck to the side of the glass. I haven't seen that before. Completely shrill to the point of being undrinkable for the first hour, then softened, and by hour 4, it was ready for business. Simpler than the Hermitage I had yesterday, but also rich and full and enjoyable. Paired miserably with chorizo (what was I thinking?) but magnificently with hummus, olives, bitter rapini and grass-fed burgers. Wait 5 years or decant for many hours.

    March 20, 2012 - Dark crimson red.

A first strong pepper nose. Then it quickly evolves into some sweater smells like a good old rum. This is rich and it evolves.

It tannins are good. Since it is quite young, it is still astringent. It is lightly spicy, the palate is sweet, it is pretty long in mouth; it flows smoothly. Pretty well balanced.

It is pretty good to drink, but it will certainly evolves even more in the future with some new tertiary smells and tastes.
