November 8, 2019 - Ten year CdP and Bordeaux retro tasting (with ringers). Hosted by Grinner.

CdP Flight One - Wine Five:

Clean, precise, moderate richness, and generally somewhat faded. It showed similarly to many quality CdRV level wines. Drink soon.

November 2, 2019 - The Annual Lyon 10 Year Retrospective (Chateau Lyon): A nice typical CdP with garrigue, wet underbrush, leather dominating the fruit. Long but slightly hot finish. 90 on day 2. Now-2021.

January 8, 2017 - Showing unmistakably Grenache character with its dusty coco powder tannins, herbaceous, and minerality. The wine also shows the ripeness of the vintage with an appealing richness. Drinking well now and likely to peak by 2020.

November 1, 2016 - Rule the Rhone; 10/27/2016-11/3/2016 (Northern & Southern Rhone): In the Old School style. 95% Grenache, 5% Mouvedre. Not sure if it was style or age or a combination of the two, but this was more old leather and earth and wet leaves. Maybe somewhere you can tell there are some hints of fruit, but they are lost among the other flavors. Tastes a bit older than I would think it should. Interesting.

January 21, 2016 - Medium ruby color. Smoky and herbal on the nose with some black and red cherries and plums. Full-bodied and rich at 14.5% alcohol, structured tannins but not too intense, medium-low acidity. Chewy texture with bold fruit (black cherry, plum, currant) but it shows some tartness. Notes of charcoal pit, grilled Mediterranean herbs, earth and pepper add complexity. Some moderately toasty oak, but it's woven in well. Does nice things with air, opening to showing more floral and earthy aspects. Quite nice - perhaps worth a revisit in three or four years.

November 6, 2015 - Medium bodied, forward, fresh and filled with sweet, ripe, soft, kirsch, cherries and raspberries. From 100% old vine Grenache, this is already fun to drink.
