April 5, 2024 - The wine is impeccable. Depth of aromas of dark red fruits and sweet spices, circled with tobacco and cigar box aromas, finished with tertiary aromas of walnut, dark cherry and blackberry jam and liquorice with thick but so well integrated tannins. Balance, depth, finesse. 96/100

June 24, 2023 - Tasted during a Cheval Blanc dinner in Dallas with Pierre Lurton hosted by LPB and the Wine Independent. I was stunned by this. Real backbone, tall wine with lots of lead pencil on the nose. Great nose and finish, a really really solid wine. Wow. Might be heresy but I enjoyed this as much as some of the amazing vintages we tried of the big daddy, but very different style. Reminded me of a 2018 Sloan Asterisk I had a few months ago without the glycerin.

November 16, 2020 - Cheval Blanc plus supps (E & M's in the rocks, Sydney): Ripe, rich, plums, sweet spice; cinnamon and cloves especially, polished oak, just beginning to show a little tertiary leathery notes as well as cocoa powder. with time it becomes more floral with red plums, strawberry and fresh herbs. Medium plus intensity acidity, tight tannins are persistent and chalky textured. there is a lick of alcohol warmth which seems to lend mint and liquorice. Wild plums, long, finishes quite spicy. Yum
