January 26, 2020 - Oak is still noticeable on the nose and the palate, while linear, has a more plush/ripe fruit profile initially and finishes with some red fruit tartness. Acidity was well defined and allowed it to pair nicely with some local Italian food delivery but for my palate, I think I'd prefer the simpler Barbera bottlings instead of reaching up in price for one of these if I had to do it all over again. This wine appeared to try to hit a higher level but didn't quite get there. 89 points if I had to put a # on it.

December 22, 2018 - Prune butter 2mm break at rim. Drink now.

October 22, 2018 - The ‘09 Vigna Vecchia unabashedly struts its warm vintage character with plum sauce up front, followed by baked cherries, rich brown spices, and sweet herbal tones. On the palate, I found velvety textures on a full-bodied frame, giving way to tart black cherry and depths of sweet exotic spices in a fleshy, flashy and extroverted expression. The finish was long and spicy with notes of black cherry that seemed to coat the senses, offset by hints of bitter herbs, minerals and tobacco. I can’t see the 2009 getting any better, and this was from Magnum, yet it is wonderfully enjoyable today.

    April 23, 2017 - Wirklich toller Barbera.
Keine Spur von Alter. Tolle Frucht. Aber auch abgemildert und schön eingebettet in einen durchweg runden Barbera. Toll!
