Community Tasting Notes 7

November 9, 2017 - I came to this a little late, a bottle that has been kept too long in normal room temperature. There are definitely some notes here of premature maturity, a sort of oxidized note not uncommon in my experience with wines kept in less than stellar circumstances. However it is mostly on the nose I find these notes and it is still a quite good Barbera underneath, with a very high acidty despite the year, notes of blackberries and blueberries and a sort of creaminess.

November 2, 2013 - In a good place, with tannins and acidity in balance. Vanilla, blueberries and sweet cedar, complementing robust food. Perfect for a Fall evenings.

September 28, 2012 - Jan & I tasted this at home. This 2009 was a very big wine with a high alcohol content of 14.5%. The bouquet nearly attacked your senses and I could feel it tickling my nose. I think it is still a little bold and a tad harsh (nearly a little brawny), so it probably needs a few more years to age. The legs were very impressive, again usually a good indication of the high alcohol. The color was a beautiful deep purple and it was very fruit forward with strong tree fruit flavors of dark cherry and ripe plum, along with strawberry jam. Mid Palate there was a fairly good balance of tannins & acidity. The finish was mid length and more of the same, but was much more subtle than the beginning. We will wait a while before we try another one to see how it ages.

April 14, 2012 - Translucent Garnet to a brick rim. Light body on the glass with nice tears. Nose of chocolate, vanilla, cream, some oak, menthol, cherries. Palate of cherries, strawberries, spice well integrated tannins elevated acidity and alcohol on the finish. VERY nice. Will see how it develops.

November 23, 2011 - Inky ripe blueberries on nose. Fruit is rich on palate, good acid, light tannins. Very little oak. Tart cherry finish.
