February 1, 2016 - Very traditional and very classy. 1998 is the most underrated vintage ever. Delicious stuff.

November 23, 2006 - Recorded from memory the following day. Outstanding brunello. I can't remember, but the fact that the labeling was all in Italian makes me think I brought this back from Italy a few years ago based on a shopkeeper's recommendation in Assisi. Very intense dark cherry flavors without overstatement. Full and rich in the mouth with an appealing minerally finish. This seemed like an uncompromising traditional brunello. Worth looking for here.

February 25, 2006 - Patrick's '01 Sauternes Horizontal in Rego Park. (Queens , NY): Elegant style with a nose of dusty cherry, mushroom and leather. Mid to full body. Very nice balance of fruit, tannins and acid on the palate. The Brunello earth/shale is there firmly supporting the dried cherries and leather again. Drinking well 4 hours after decanting and returning to the bottle. May be prepared to offer more in a couple of years.

February 24, 2006 - Friday night with Patrick Stella's Sauternes (The Count's House): Intense nose of leather, dusty earth, sweet cherries, pine nuts and a touch of eggplant, with a background herbal character. This is really nicely complex on the nose. Good acidity on the palate, medium bodied but perhaps a touch thin.

February 24, 2006 - Patrick Stella and the '01 Sauternes Show (Count's Mannor): pine needles, forest floor, at the same time there is the essence of italian wine on the nose... on the palatte - great balance, medium to light body, pefect acidity keeping this fresh, good tannins on the finish, fruit profile generally strawberry and sour cherry. long finish... YUM!
