January 16, 2020 - dark red, slight bricking on the rim - intense dark red fruit nose (cassis, blueberries, blackberries) but not much in the way of complex flavors - full-bodied mouth with excellent fruit-acid-tannin balance - medium length 15-20 sec finish - drinking beautifully now, but has all the elements to last another 10-15 years - was over-shadowed in the nose by the 1986 Mouton Rothschild drank at the same time, but was superior to the Mouton in the mouth because of the intense fruit and fuller body

January 5, 2020 - Definitely on the downside, but good drinking nonetheless. Tannins resolved so not mouth searing. A little pruney, but good flavors and very balanced.

January 3, 2020 - Just an hour in the nose came to life. No better way to celebrate our 25th! So elegant and smooth with cherry, tobacco and beautiful medium body. Perfect!

December 16, 2019 - 1994 California Cabernet Blind Tasting (Michelangelo Hotel, New York): Morelo cherry to dark cherry. Lively palate which dances around your tongue. Some found it too modern but runner-up WOTN for me after the Bryant Family.

December 15, 2019 - Decanted for hours Chez Dave. Impressive strawberry jam nose, nose and palate, faded mature red. Smooth soft, pencil lead on the palate. A little underwhelming, palate wise.

December 15, 2019 - December Guy's Dinner (Our Farm in NJ): In my cellar since release from retail purchase (price tag attached says $55 and I probably got this in a mixed case with a 20% discount circa 1997!). Decanted at 2:30pm and tasted through about 8pm. The wine was initially translucent, medium to dark garnet with no bricking. Nose is very florals with violets, blackberry bramble, chocolate and earthy soil. Medium acidity and medium- tannin, quite soft and chewy. Herbal notes on the front of the palate then blackberry, chocolate, graphite and later in the evening a distinct strawberry jam finish. Very elegant and long on the finish (30+ seconds). Quite balanced and less “ripe and extracted” than more recent vintages. Honestly though I was a bit surprised that this didn’t hold up as long as the other 1994 Cabs (Rubicon and Napanook) we were also having. Probably best 2-3 hours open and some might say best in the first hour. Drink up is my advice on this one. It was better a few years ago.

November 8, 2019 - Napa Cult CabSav 1994 dinner (Singapore): Really ripe nose with a touch of oxidation from my view. Stewed fruit combines with dark fruit and spices, some forest elements. Did not fancy this too much, but may be not the best bottle. 92?

July 18, 2019 - Garnet black color with a massive throw of sediment. Deep, dark plums and cherries, with a dollop of licorice and cedar. This is a sexy wine. On the balanced finish, smooth spicy tannins and lingering complexity. Terrific!

This bottle was previously sampled with Coravin in April 2018. Remarkably, the same score.

July 9, 2019 - Delicious. Blackberry and black raspberry, with copious amounts of tobacco, herbs and sous bois. Very mellow, plush, with a firm enough structure to keep it lively. It seemed fully mature, more mature than I would have thought, although it got tastier and more aromatic as it aired out.
