July 19, 2019 - Superb. Two bottles with cheese and foie gras for 66th birthday dinner - all ten of us loved it

May 27, 2019 - Opened a 1995 Insignia Imperial this weekend I have cellared. The wine was beautifully aged with nice earth notes and dark fruit. The tannins were almost all but gone as was the heavy toasted barrel flavor so I timed it right (luckily). I would assume a .750 might be a little past it's prime so if you have one, pop it soon. Let it breathe and open up for a bit as mine peaked about an hour after it was opened.
The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like fig, cherry, plum, mushroom and light toast. It tastes like blackberry, raspberry, black currant (cassis), fig, light toast and molasses. The body is medium/full. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has low acidity.

92-93 pts

November 24, 2018 - Gorgeous secondary and tertiary nuances on the big nose leaping from the glass. Brooding dark plums and sage with black tea and mushrooms. Fine grained tannins give this a solid structure that will keep this wine for at least another 5 years although there is no need to wait and enjoy this beauty today.
