May 25, 2022 - Popped and poured; no formal notes. The 2010 “La Gravette de Certan” pours a deep ruby, almost purple color with some fine sediment. Gorgeous aromas of ripe brambles, plums, purple flowers, cocoa, graphite minerals and baking spices. That palate is treated to a luxurious silken blanket of flavor with ample fruit that is deftly balanced by minerals, earth and a gentle kiss of spices. The structure, which is wonderfully integrated, props everything up. The finish is long and effortlessly charming. This is classic Pomerol. Even though this is the second wine of VCC, it’s treated like (and drinks like) it’s one of the great wines of the appellation. Everyone who shared this bottle tonight was completely smitten. Drinking so well now and should continue to do so for at least another 5-10 years…but no reason to wait.

April 20, 2022 - Smokin’ good value for sure. Lots of the character of the Grand Vin despite being the flip side of the blend. Not sure of the exact blend, but did taste once in the not too distant past with Mssr Thienpont and I recall him saying that it was about 55-65% Cabernet Franc depending on the vintage. Really outstanding and you should drink or hold because you can do both if you have some or buy it and do whatever if you don’t.

July 23, 2021 - No formal notes, but this was very good. Deep plum highlights the intriguing nose. This is nicely juicy and layered. If offered blind, I would not peg this as a second wine. It’s a great example of Pomerol and a nice bargain. I look forward to trying the big brother.

May 2, 2021 - Cork had a bit of seepage but bottle definitely not flawed. Quite closed at first, but after a day it's phenomenal! Everything in this wine is in balance with a finish lasting a full minute. A tad hot, which kept me from rating it higher. But great value for the 80 bucks I paid. Have one bottle left which I plan to drink later this year, though I think it'd hold for 2-3 more years. Yum!

October 8, 2020 - Holy crap! This is so good, with a short decant. The bottle, and dinner, are now history, so I don't have detailed notes, but the balance and fruit were just awesome. I concur with others that this is not a long term keeper, so drink in the next few years. Maybe the best Pomerol that I've ever had. It's just so good now, and I don't see how this could get much better.
