August 3, 2020 - interesting contrast to the last bottle I had. This was more plum, animale, funk, some olive and black licorice notes and maybe a hint of iron. the last bottle i had was more bright fruit cherry. this was good but not at the same level of my last bottle.

July 30, 2020 - Delicious, complex, atypical (and mysterious and hard to place, for better or worse), seamless. Ready to drink with 90 minutes aeration and still it unfurls in the glass.

July 26, 2020 - Healthy Coravin pour, lingered over for a few hours.

An inflection-changing masterpiece! The essences of thick petal flowers, fruit, spice (pepper), herbs, fig cake, dates, pipe tobacco, olive barrel, mincemeat, cured meats, umami, smoldering coals, ash, and black rock minerality spilled from the glass. The pretty notes here showed most prominently upon pulling the cork. With air, the savory notes came forward.

Plush and pleasantly gritty. Tannins dance across the palate, as fig cake, sweet tobacco, and spice box stimulate the senses. As with the palate, and arguably the most unique and appealing element to this offering, with air, the forward 'sweetness' transitions to intense savoriness at the back and on the finish. Wines that achieve this level of shape-shifting are rare indeed. Tannins clamp down at the back, in line with the savory transition. No point to clocking the riveting finish, as it knows no quit.

Just now entering an early drinking window and likely to continue evolving for a few more years. Medium plus acid and medium tannin show no sign of peaking. Likely to reach its apex in five to seven years and hold form for several more thereafter. Laying the bottle back down proved extremely challenging. 95...97

July 18, 2020 - Still developing, this well structured and dense CdP was not (yet) up to expectations raised by its price tag. Dark, mature cassis, violet, leather, herbal tones, balsamico, pepper, roast and menthol notes. On the positive: a very balanced CdP, fresh and avoiding phenolic exuberance, on the negative: not much uumph.
