June 12, 2014 - spoiled.
March 12, 2014 - Very similar to the previous bottles. Fresh nose with red fruits (cranberry and cherry), rose petals and celery roots. Needs a little breathing time to gain weight on the palate but as always a very nice, light pineau d'aunis with grippy tannins on the finish.
November 30, 2013 - Nice fresh wine. Bright red cherry, rose petals, leather and a hint of vegie. Cassis lurking in the background. Beautiful soft texture. A light tartness lifts the finish with tannins keeping the wine together.
Such an easy wine to drink with a great sense of place.
June 21, 2013 - Something had to have gone wrong here. Carbonation is almost Champagne-level and the wine is cloudy and smells like chewing gum stuck to your shoe. I could not drink this.
September 21, 2012 - I always struggle a bit with Pinot d'Aunis. This is a fairly nice one. Lots of cracked pepper and decaying underbrush, a bit of red fruit. This does show a bit of spritz, thought the fruit doesn't appear to be declining so I don't really know what it's about.
September 9, 2012 - Incredibly weedy and pungent nose of tea, spice, cranberry, and tobacco. With time the nose continued to develop earthy and vegetal tones. The palate had a lot of spritz to it...much more so than previous bottles. Under the artificial cork, I am a bit worried about its future...maybe time to drink up?
June 4, 2012 - Popped and poured. Very funky spice and black pepper aroma. In contrast, the palate shows pure and straightforward flavors of red fruit and black pepper, with a slight spritzy feel. Lovely black pepper and sage finish.
FTR I liked the funkiness, others may (and did) differ. A fun and simple wine that still gives you plenty to think about
May 18, 2012 - Consistent with prior bottles. There's a touch of funk and a vivid damp earthy scent but also a sense of remarkable lightness and freshness to the fruit and other savoury flavours.
April 14, 2012 - Pale cloudy color, almost already showing evolution. Lively nose with plenty of red fruits (raspberry and cranberry), tangy (celery salt) and floral (rose). Quite similar on the palate. Light, pure and fresh. Very good with a great sense of place. Fake cork.
