May 31, 2021 - At the moment, this wine needs a 3 hour decant before revealing itself. The Magill Estate is often a misunderstood wine when it is lined up against the bigger siblings.

08 was a great vintage this wine had liquorice, blueberry, spice and mocha nose. Body was very balanced, savoury, tobacco or cedar and great acid structure. A delicious drop. Came very close to a 94 but the finish held it back slightly - it did not linger and faded sooner than expected.

    Drink now or 10+ years.

November 7, 2020 - Drunk to celebrate the election.

Perhaps my favourite of the wines in the Penfolds stable and I wish I had purchased lots of back in the day.

Still very young and understated (for Penfolds). Blackberry, vanilla, fine tannins, medium plus in length. A pleasure to drink, but will try and hold my remaining bottle at least a decade.
