December 1, 2011 - Nose is dark berry, plum, vanilla, cola, bell pepper, and dust. Flavors follow suit pretty well, with a bit les vanilla and cola and adding a touch of cigar. The wine is reasonably well balanced, with the tannins taking the forefront slightly. Finish is lengthy. Nice, enjoyable Merlot.

August 27, 2011 - Popped and poured after a pizza night. Very dark fruit of plum on the aroma, as well as licorice and some oak. Taste is a bit muted, though, with a very dry finish. This definitely needs a couple years to see if that tannins subdue a bit.
