Community Tasting Notes 5

February 4, 2018 - Wines tasted during Super Bowl LII (Chez Kailin): Another high end Burg that belies the '03 vintage. There is richness and fruit density without any roasted qualities. Appealing and prominent baking spice intermingled with red and black cherry. Fresh acids and still firm tannins provide grip. This has a long ways to go and should improve from here.

August 4, 2013 - No change from my last note. A monolithic wine that reflects the vintage more than the producer or the vineyard.

February 19, 2012 - Opened and drank over 2 hours. Third time with this wine. Way too ripe and over blown. A creature of the vintage and the big style kills any nuances that would normally come with a great RSV. Ripe, plenty of heat and out of balance. Choppy finish. Drink with appropriate food--like a steak as this is more like a big CA pinot than a Grand Cru Burgundy.

September 10, 2011 - Strawberry and mint nose. Smooth and creamy, nicely balanced. Seemed very Chambolle-like to me, couldn't get much of the Asian spice and soy flavours some of the other CT users. 92/93 at best.

September 10, 2009 - Uncorked DK BYO - Dom P, Clos de Tart, Vogue, Masseto, Diamond Creek, Dunn, Gaja, Guigal, SQN... (Aarø & Co): Corked. What a shame. You could sense some dense dark fruit, soy and spices underneath which just made for an even worse experience as it made us bemoan the loss even more.
