March 11, 2023 - This wine had tons of funk and barnyard aromas when first opened. After breathing for a while (and lots of swirling), those aromas faded and fresh fruit immerged. Perhaps the most interesting wine if the night.

February 19, 2022 - Started as a 90 but just got better and better as the bottle opened up. Wish I had more in my cellar.

May 3, 2020 - Definitely needed some time to open up. About 2-3 hrs in it really started to show some fruit. Good but not great.

December 14, 2019 - Note: finished the bottle after it had decanted for up to 2 hours - this needs longer and I know it - but did not have the time and somebody's "drink by" said 2019 - it can go longer; see below. Pretty deep garnet color with minimal sediment. To the nose, oak more than leather or smoke, with forest floor/woods and very slight mushroom to start. Dark fruit (esp. dark cherries) when first decanted with red fruit increasing as opens up. Initial spices are a mix, almost garrigue-like. On the palate, dark fruit over red to start with red showing more as opens up. Spices are more discernible, with pepper more than sage, nutmeg and cinnamon. Strong tannins, still after 15 years, in shoelaces. Oak = leather, but these dissipate around the 1 hour mark. Medium mouthfeel and medium length for a Montsant. Took over one hour to mostly open up - I wish I had longer and I expect after 4 hours it would be even more expressive (and in 89-91 range?). Does NOT need to be drunk in 2019.

June 30, 2019 - A simple wine and a bit sour - seemed younger than its age.

April 7, 2019 - I really love this wine. It is different and more intense than so many other Spanish reds. Stony, smoky, earthy, wonderful fruit to balance it that is becoming dried fruit as the years pass. But be warned: you cannot pop and pour this wine. It is absolutely awful without time to breathe. It tastes too much of tannin and cork. Minimum decant time is 2 hours, better to let it go 3-4. It's really special once it opens up. And at the price? Amazing.

January 12, 2019 - Closed when it was first opened, but still enjoyable. It opened up very nicely over the course of dinner. For future bottles, I would let it breath for an hour or two before consuming. It is a fantastic pairing for a true Caesar Salad.

July 14, 2018 - Inviting nose of vanilla, cherry, and hints of smoke. Blackberry, cherry, and plum fruit flavors. Hints of orange peel, anise and fennel. Full bodied, smooth tannins. Aerated and decanted 8hr. Fruit started to really show @ 4hr, tastes developed and changed throughout.
