January 18, 2020 - CNY Wine Night @ Chef Kang: Plum tart, ripe berries, chocolate violets, sweet liquorice, tinge of burnt caramel toastie. Very nice long menthol finish. Nicely layered, full bodied, with depth. However, stylistically too sweet for me. Nonetheless, a very well made wine. Open now and good for many years ahead.

December 24, 2019 - Decanted for over an hour. Ripe dark fruits and tannins. However, the fruit is not as extracted and jammy as in the past. This is drinking wonderfully now but it is not as unctuous as previous bottles. Drink up.

November 24, 2019 - Almost 5 years since my last tasting of this- 90 min decant. This was heads up against a 1995 Insignia. This had some heat and was very fruit forward and with an average finish. Lacking in complexity and felt very much like a wealthy novice’s preferred wine. Don’t get me wrong, if someone was pouring this at a cocktail party or a wedding I would be absolutely thrilled but this really was just smooth and boring. This is meant for a beer drinkers special occasion anniversary wine. This is certainly in its prime and if the fruit fades anymore it will be missing the one thing this has going for it. Wouldn’t hold these for more than 1-2 years.

November 14, 2019 - Opened for about an hour. Delicious from the beginning. Full fruit without too much jam feel. Good nose. Sorry I only have one bottle

    October 27, 2019 - Easy 93 points.

Very little decanting was needed. The color is still a medium purple with no sign of aging yet. Aroma of red fruits with cigar box, vanilla and a hint of prune.

This guy is mellow and the tannin's are in perfect sync with the acids and alcohol. Silky smooth and paired nicely with steak or any mildly fat protein. Flavors of red cherry, cranberry, leather, cigar box just coat your mouth. The silky tannin is so soft, the finish was very good and the complexity is decent.

I would have rated higher if the complexity had more layers but regardless this is a wine in its prime stage.

    Cheers!
