April 3, 2024 - BYOB dinner NOTK (Supernova hotel, Rotterdam): I was concerned with the below shoulder level fill, but this showed remarkably well. Birthyear wine makes it always a bit more special. Classic aged BDX profile with green bell pepper, tobacco, ceder, some fruit, minerality. Medium+ acidity, medium tannins, medium+ finish

March 23, 2024 - I was bit concerned about the upper shoulder fill but upon opening, I could tell there would be no issues with the condition or storage of this wine. Slow-oxed for 6 hours before drinking, this is what I would consider "textbook" Pauillac, even though it is my first experience with Mouton. A stunning wine that showed no signs of fading over several hours, with abundant cassis, pencil lead, tobacco leaf and black cherry flavors. Classy and smooth, toeing the line between power and finesse.

February 11, 2024 - Stood upright for 24 hours prior to carefully extracting the fully saturated cork with my trusty Durand. This was poured slowly off its sediment into a narrow-bodied decanter. Bright orange-brown colour. Mostly secondary aromas of cassis, red and blue berry fruit, sous-bois, warm spices like nutmeg and cardamom, coffee and tobacco. Silky smooth across the palate with surprising vivacity and a medium-plus finish. The nose and palate continued to improve over more than an hour and then slowly started to fade around the 2.5 hour mark as the finish started to dry out. While in in its window tonight, this was a regal wine from an unheralded vintage. Just wonderful.

January 21, 2023 - The 50 Big Bash (Harry's NYC): I think Mouton can get a bit of a bum rap but with the exception of the '90 I feel like I'm always pleasantly surprised by the wines. This was no different. Very nice. Darker red fruits. A bit secondary notes. Good vibrancy and drinking well.

September 24, 2022 - Opened 2hrs before but didn’t decant it. Already at beginning quite intense nose and easy on the pallet.
After 2hrs it was wonderful to drink - Heavy notes of leather and mushrooms in the nose and soft on the palate, really well balanced and with a gentle finish - quite impressive for such an old vintage indeed!
