February 15, 2024 - Fell a little different than my last one. Smoother, less explosive and more mature. I'm not sure it's the wine and it's not me since there's not a lot of time since my last bottle but this on was better.
Still not a WOW, but a good high end wine.

January 15, 2024 - Prior bottle was 17 months ago and this wine continues to show quite well. Black cherry, along with more distinct plum on the nose as well as earth, spices and leather. Between medium and full bodied with the black cherry notes upfront continuing to show a good blend of expressive openness and brighter, contrasting qualities. Adds depth along with deeper black cherry and plum through the middle. Backside shows balanced tannins and a pleasant burst of tart black cherry and acidity, providing contrast to the depth of mid-body blackfruit. As with my prior bottle, the mid-body has really opened up well and is nicely integrated with the backside. I don't see it gaining further complexity and it's already at peak for integration, but it should be able to maintain this level for another few years. I'll plan to open my last bottle in Q1 2025.

June 26, 2023 - This is a powerfull wine. Need an hour to be at his best.
It’s less balanced than I tought. It feel like it’s a blast on each side without the refinement to blend everything smoothly. There’s a fruit peak, than a wood peak, than tannins blast, than plums rush, than leathers, etc…. A lot of everything.

Not exactly what I tought it would be, but still a really good wine. Still 2 bottles left, will see how they are

October 30, 2022 - PnP. Vesentlig bedre enn forrige flaske for 3 år siden.

August 20, 2022 - Prior bottle was 18 months ago and this wine continues to improve. Black cherry, a touch of plum as well as earth, spices and leather on the very pretty nose. Between medium and full bodied with black cherry upfront that shows good roundness and depth with a nice touch of brightness for contrast. Mid-body has really opened up well, compared to my initial bottles, showing very good fruit definition (all mixed blackfruit, but especially black cherry and plum) combined with depth that leaves the wine feeling practically silky. Tart red and black cherry behind along with tannins, spices and acidity. These structural notes still provide excellent backbone and contrast, but the tannins are much more in balance with the fruit, the acidity provides contrast without being overwhelming and also contributes length while the spices are in-line with the fruit and also contribute to the finish. This wine is showing quite impressively at present, but in a fashion it should eb able to maintain and perhaps even continue to show positive evolution going forward. Next bottle for me will be Summer 2023.

July 30, 2021 - Haven't enjoyed a wine this much in a long time. Maybe that says more about my drinking habits than this bottle.

February 20, 2021 - Prior bottle was two years and five months ago and this wine continues to evolve positively. Nose shows black cherry, floral and spice notes. Between medium and full bodied and quite accessible within an hour of opening; this wine has really integrated well. Rounded black cherry upfront, gaining depth through the middle with open and expressive blackfruit qualities. Adds a mix of tart red and black cherry on the backside along with tannins, acidity and integrated spices. It still has plenty of structure, but the tannins, spices and acidity are all considerably more in balance with the fruit than my prior bottle. The cool, deep upfront blackfruit blends beautifully with the lightly tart and bright red fruit, spices, tannins and acidity on the back - great contrast. Given how well this is showing, I may open another bottle as soon as June/July 2021, but no rush here, this wine has a number of years left ahead of it.

December 26, 2020 - Opened a couple of hours before tasted. I suspect this is not quite ready. Initially I was quite certain of it, because this came across in a very light, tight and sharply tannic manner. Oh well, that's what you get with young, quality Barbaresco. But with some air and against the Christmas ham, this deepened and softened appreciably while still maintaining a high, fine, pretty overall impression. Enjoyed some decent tar and rose aromas towards the end, and a rather delicate, delightful palate presence too. This is one wine that sports 14.5% alcohol per the label but you (or at least I) would never have guessed it was that--it feels more like a degree and a half lower. No alcoholic warmth, and, as noted, this is a dry, fine, and composed wine. I am looking forward to opening another one in three years, perhaps. I have other riservas from this producer and vintage to try or not in the interregnum. But, yeah, this is a great wine for the $35-$40 I recall paying for it perhaps eight years ago.
