September 10, 2022 - Gave this about a two-hour decant. It needed it. Initially quite tannic and unyielding, and seems to lack focus. It does open up to show some nice red fruit and spice, but this performed below expectations (hopes?!). Seems to need another few years in the cellar, which is what I will do with my remaining bottles.

September 2, 2022 - Notes very similar to Melvin Yeo’s that precedes this note, other than I thought mine drank better

March 31, 2022 - Chambolle night: Seemed a little advanced for the age based on appearance, and the tannins were also pretty much resolved to give a very soft wine. However, the fruit was very vibrant so I thought it was a strong vintage along the lines of 2002. Slightly sweet and candied fruit on the finish.

September 20, 2021 - By far the most disappointing Bertheau I've tried. This seemed really shut down and muddled, even after several hours out and a few days in the fridge. Recommend holding, hoping it will come around.

March 25, 2021 - Chambolle 1er Blends (Chicago + Zoom): 09/10/11. Full nose with nice mix of strawberry, red cherry and black cherry with nuanced herb, spice and mineral layers. Good textural complexity and mineral that is classically Chambolle. Good but not at the level of other producer's 1er wines.
