January 5, 2017 - Brickish red. Beautiful nose of red cherry and dried strawberry. A touch of leather and oolong tea and hints of dried flowers. Surprisingly fresh and vibrant on the nose. Palate is beautifully balanced with minerals and finely resolved tannins. Excellent sap in the middle palate with notes of dried flowers and sense of salinity. Finishes with elegance and a refreshing tang.

October 17, 2015 - Deep crimson. Solid nose of medium ripe red cherries and wet soil with some barn. Notes of leather and ground coffee emerge later on. Cranberry on the palate with sour cherry. Some iron, cool menthol, and ripening red and black cherry come together after 90+ minutes. A very enjoyable bottle.

June 19, 2013 - Lovely wine. Light sour cherry, but beautifully balanced. Round in the mouth, with an almost velvety feel. A touch earthy and spicy. Drinking really well.

November 1, 2012 - This appears to be a purchase-in-bottle wine, as the cork is not a Leroy cork and this was purchased at release from a reputable channel. Dark smoky red color with medium transparency. Aromas of strawberry, raspberry, sous bois, and violets. Palate is starting to show some of the promise of the nose with smoke, sous bois, strawberry, cherry, celery spice, and some black olive character that carries into a medium finish. This is really satisfying, if not really Leroy in the way it shows itself. It also seems more stern than I would expect from a Volnay Santenots. Regardless, it is delicious and starting to unwind in the bottle. Drink or hold.

August 13, 2012 - Not as good as the last bottle that I had a few months ago, but still good. Touch of menthol, with sous bois and red fruits on the nose. Not as bright as the last bottle, especially given the vintage. Finish long and quite nice. 92 pts.
